locally
The Reina Victoria working-class district. This is a group of single-family homes in the English-architecture style, built in 1917. It is noteworthy for the fact that each block of houses has its own peculiar constructional features distinguishing it from all the others.
La Merced Cathedral. Founded in 1605, it became a Cathedral in 1953, its prominent features including a sculpture of the Jerusalem Christ and the beautiful Virgen de la Cinta carving.
La Concepción Church. Built in the sixteenth century, it has paintings by Zurbarán and choir stalls of great worth.
San Marcos Castle. Built in the sixteenth century, it is a magnificent example of the Renaissance style
La Rábida Monastery. The monastery stands on a hill where the Phoenicians had previously built an altar to their God Baal, and the Romans a temple to the Goddess Proserpine. It became a Franciscan monastery at the beginning of the fifteenth century.

Festivals Along of the festive calendar we can find a enormous variety in Ayamonte, we propose to him not to lose the carnivals, nor either Easter holiday. For the lovers of the music we have in August the International Festival of the Music, in which already voices like those were listened to of Monserrat Caballé or the “taconeo” of Antonio Canales.

Routes. When we talk about Huelva, we don’t have to forget that Huelva explorer, which his colombinos places between that we found the monastery of la Rábida or the Carabela’s replicas Next we propose a visit around the mountain range of Huelva visiting towns as Aracena with the “Gruta de las maravillas” and why not, a “tapita” of Jabugo Ham.

For the lovers of the gastronomy to emphasize like typical plate of Huelva “Broad beans with small cuttlefishes” , but this is not the last memory since there is plates like “Long-thin clams, prawns, small cuttlefishes, fried small fish, or Iberian cured ham” which will be able to taste in the Chiringuitos of the zone.

The port of Huelva holds a very prominent place in what is known as the “shellfish route”, and its fish market is stocked with the day’s catch of various kinds of prawn and bream, skate and sole.
These enable delicious dishes to be served up, particularly tollos con tomate (smooth-hound shark with tomato), sea bream cooked with onion, cuttlefish with beans, and skate in paprika sauce.
Spain’s finest cured mountain ham comes from the highlands in Huelva, and is protected by a ‘denomination of origin’. The region also has excellent minced-pork sausage and other sausage meats.
As regards desserts, the province’s fruit can be singled out: peaches from Nava, melons and watermelons from Cortegana, quince from Fuenteheridos and strawberries from Lepe; and for the seriously sweet-toothed, there are the special Easter cakes called hornazos, the tocinitos de cielo (made with syrup and egg yolks), and Moguer pies.
